FACILITIES
Our two state-of-the-art laboratories in the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences are equipped with state-of-the-art instrumentations in physical and analytical chemistry and atmospheric sciences, microbiology/genomics, and nanotechnology facilities.
Our facilities include (a) field measurement, (b) laboratory experimental setups (an example), as well as (c) theoretical-computational and atmospheric modelling. (d) This lab has a suite of microcosms for air, snow, and water. (e). We have several facilities in optical spectroscopy, including high-resolution long path FTIR, second harmonic femtosecond laser spectroscopy, FTIR-Raman, holography, UV-Visible and fluorescent spectroscopy. We have 12 unique pieces of equipment for real-time and in-situ aerosol analyzers for particles in the air, water, solid and heterogenous particles, namely SMPS, OPS, PAX, NTA, etc. We are equipped with various mass spectrometry (QQQ-ToF MS/MS; QQQ-ICP-MS/MS; APCI/ESI MS; QQQ-GC-MS) and chromatography units (GC-FID; LC/MS; GC-ECD/thermo-desorbed), as well as equipment for microphysics (Peltier plates with microscopy and a McGill innovation MRINC, aerosols characterisation, and full air and water measurement equipment for field and lab studies.
We are also fortunate to have full access to fantastic experimental and modelling facilities in the Department of Chemistry and the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences and access to other units at McGill University.
